Santa Claus also falls victim to the lockdown this year. To make sure that the children do not have to do without the wise words of the old man with the white beard and small gifts, the Wiener Hilfswerk is starting a free letter campaign.

Normally, on December 6th, St. Nicholas is at the door. But not this year. “Children are only children for a certain period of time, so no year should be lost,” says Eva Bertalan from the Hernals Neighborhood Center. So she and her colleagues from the Vienna relief organization came up with the idea of sending St. Nicholas to the children’s homes by mail. Parents can now register their child for the campaign by providing their name, age, information about the praise and the postal address at nikolo@wiener.hilfswerk.at or 01/512 36 61-3600.

Punctually to 6 December then a handwritten golden letter of Nikolos flutters together with a small gift into the house. The action is free. The relief organization is however pleased about donations for the neighbourhood assistance.
